Horsepower Storage was founded in 2010, with storage space initially for just 20 bikes. We quickly realised demand for storage exceeded the space available, so we converted an unused building into a purpose storage facility. As the business grew, another building was set up for storage - fully sealed and insulated walls and roofs and industrial dehumidifiers being installed as part of the process.
Ben runs Horsepower Storage, and comes to us with an abundance of enthusiasm for all motorcycles and cars. He is a keen biker himself on the track, on-road and off-road, and a classic and sports car enthusiast. He is also a certified BMW car trained technician.
Ben has worked on a wide variety of cars and bikes over the years, from modern superbikes to delicate classics, and the latest performance cars to the oldest ones. He carries out a lot of the maintenance on the bikes and cars stored with us. He also deals with any shipping requests, and delivers clients’ vehicles when requested.
Job Description
Horsepower Storage is a motorcycle and car storage facility, providing long and medium-term storage solutions. We maintain vehicles whilst we store them, keeping them in good running condition and servicing/repairing them as and when necessary.
We have a full-time job vacancy for someone who is passionate about motorcycles and cars and enjoys looking after them and working on and around them. You don’t need to be a qualified mechanic, but need to have a genuine interest in maintaining vehicles and keeping them in the best condition possible. – Diagnose and repair minor mechanical issues with vehicles, including engine, transmission, and electrical systems.
– Transport vehicles to/from the storage facility, either in a van, riding/driving them, or on a trailer.
– Valet vehicles as required (training will be provided for this).
– Liaise with customers regarding collecting/returning their vehicle to storage.
Requirements:
– Good mechanical knowledge and understanding of motorcycles and cars.
– Experience and confidence in riding/driving, moving, operating a variety of motorcycles and cars.
– Proficient in using power tools and hand tools for repairs and maintenance.
– Full motorcycle licence and car license, and confidence in driving/riding.

– Monday to Friday 8am-5pm

– Reliably commute to NW7 or be willing to relocate with an employer-provided relocation package
Example of normal tasks for vehicles coming into storage:
– Taking photos when they come in before moving them.
– Pumping up the tyres to 55psi.
– Cleaning them and refuelling with fresh fuel.
– Locating the battery location and putting it on charge.
– Labelling any jackets/helmets etc with the owner’s name and putting them away.
– Every 4-8 weeks, starting the engines and letting them warm up, testing electrics-lights, horn etc, noting any faults.
– Vehicles that are in for long periods, we take out for a quick ride around the yard to get everything moving and check for any other faults.
– Getting a vehicle ready to go out-disconnect charger, dust vehicle off, adjust tyre pressures.
Extras:
– We do servicing and basic repairs too, not a lot though. You can do as much as you’re comfortable with.
– You won’t have to deal with customers unless I can’t be contacted, unless you want to. All calls/emails will go through me.
– The storage buildings are kept tidy, and the workshop as tidy as possible.
– We collect/deliver a lot of bikes too, not so many cars. We have a new Transit Custom with a wheel chock bolted in, so it’s easy to load them in and secure them. Most deliveries are into London, occasionally they’ll be out away from town. You would be doing at least some of these moves, I will show you how to properly load/unload bikes.
I am on site most days and you will be shown everything you need to know and I am always available to answer any questions, whatever they might be. Better to check and do the job once than guess and make a mistake.
The farm is in a very beautiful and unique location, and it’s very peaceful with lots of space to work in and outside the buildings. It is a family run business and has an incredibly friendly and laid back feel, we don’t like to rush jobs and make mistakes, rather take time and do them properly. For anyone who loves working on and around cars and bikes, it’s a dream job. The option to live on site means you can enjoy the farm outside of work hours too.
We of course encourage and welcome you to come and have a tour to see how we operate, and to get a better feel for this unique job offer. The attached video briefly shows parts of the job and location, but it has to be seen to understand what it’s really like.
Salary will depend on whether accommodation is provided or not, and is to be discussed in person.
